This really is 21 minutes long. I’d be very surprised if anyone sat through it. It’s “ambient video”, intended to perform a decorative function in the background. It’s supposed to be pretty and pleasant. Soothing, but not in a way that would cause anyone to recklessly abandon their drudgery.
The music is Charm (Over Burundi Cloud), by Jon Hassell and Brian Eno, from the Fourth World, Vol. 1, Possible Musics album. I bought it on tape cassette when it was first released in that format. At the time, it was sold as “ambient music“, a term and concept credited to Brian Eno. I like the idea very much. However I think anything conducive to creating a pleasant environment, in an unlikely-to-be-pleasant setting, is going to distract from the functions that are supposed to be performed in that environment. The more pleasant the setting, the less busyness. It could still be conducive to productivity, however, but that’s generally not the point of unpleasant environments!
